Medical Examination and Psychological Tests for Drivers in Poland: 2026–2027 Requirements

Professional drivers planning to work with trucks or passenger vehicles in Poland must complete a medical examination and psychological assessment.

These procedures confirm that the driver has no health or psychological conditions that could prevent safe professional driving. The certificates are also required for creating the PKZ — Profil Kierowcy Zawodowego, which is used during professional qualification procedures and Code 95 training.

What is checked during the medical examination?

The main purpose of the medical examination is to determine whether a person is fit to work as a professional driver.

A qualified doctor assesses the driver’s general health, eyesight, hearing and other factors that may affect safe vehicle operation.

After the examination, the driver receives an official medical certificate confirming whether there are any contraindications to professional driving.

Why are psychological tests required?

Psychological testing evaluates whether a driver can safely perform their duties under stress, pressure and prolonged concentration.

The examination may include tests of reaction speed, attention, coordination, decision-making and the ability to respond quickly to changing road conditions.

After successful completion, the driver receives a psychological certificate confirming fitness for professional driving.

How long are the examinations valid?

Professional drivers under the age of 60 generally undergo medical and psychological examinations every 5 years.

After the age of 60, the interval is reduced to 30 months.

Drivers should therefore monitor the validity dates of their certificates and renew them before they expire.

Medical tests, PKZ and Code 95

Medical and psychological certificates are an important part of the professional driver qualification process in Poland.
